Job Description
Senior Petrophysicist
Location: Oman
Duration: 3 to 6 months
Benefits: Flights, accommodation, and local travel provided
An exciting opportunity is available for a highly experienced Senior Petrophysicist with advanced rock physics expertise to support subsurface evaluation and modeling in complex carbonate and clastic reservoirs. The ideal candidate will bring over 20 years of industry knowledge and hands-on proficiency in integrated petrophysical workflows.
Core Responsibilities:
- Conduct quality control and conditioning of raw and processed well log datasets.
- Calibrate logs with core analysis data (RCA/SCAL) and laboratory results.
- Develop and implement robust reservoir-wide models for porosity, permeability, and water saturation.
- Interpret petrophysical results to identify pay zones, net-to-gross, and optimal perforation intervals.
- Generate saturation height functions and electrofacies classifications.
- Integrate pressure, fluid, and log data to enhance reservoir understanding.
- Design well-specific logging programs tailored to field challenges.
Rock Physics Integration:
- Analyze elastic properties and assess their response to fluid and lithological changes.
- Apply Gassmann fluid substitution and mineral mixing models.
- Construct elastic models and lithology-fluid discrimination crossplots.
- Contribute rock physics outputs to seismic inversion and geomechanical models.
Technical Focus Areas:
- Address data quality limitations and model permeability and Sw in complex zones.
- Tackle challenges related to thin-bed resolution and low-resistivity pay.
- Drive core-log integration and sophisticated electrofacies classification strategies.
Tools & Software:
- Other standard tools for petrophysical and rock physics analysis
