Job Description

Senior DataStage Developer (Mappings)
Contract: 7 months (Inside IR35)
Service: Hybrid Cloud and Data
Service Area: Big Data Services
Location: UK based, remote

We are supporting a large enterprise programme within the Hybrid Cloud and Data space and are looking for an experienced DataStage Developer to join an established delivery team. This role sits within a Big Data Services function and focuses heavily on data transformation and mapping work within a structured, Agile environment.

You will be working on a complex data programme, so attention to detail, solid methodology knowledge and the ability to collaborate across teams are all key. No lone wolves here, this is very much a team sport.

What you will be doing

  • Designing, developing and implementing DataStage mappings in line with project requirements and best practice
  • Applying MOSAIC or IBM 10-step Data Migration methodologies to support robust data transformation
  • Working closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Using XML, XSLT and related technologies for data manipulation and transformation tasks
  • Managing work through Jira, keeping delivery on track and visible
  • Maintaining high standards of code quality, performance and efficiency
  • Providing guidance and support to junior team members when needed

Required skills and experience

  • You must be a UK national with a minimum of 5 years continuous UK residency
  • Proven hands-on experience with DataStage Designer and mapping development
  • Strong understanding of MOSAIC or IBM 10-step Data Migration methodologies
  • Experience working with XML, XSLT and other data manipulation technologies
  • Comfortable working in Agile environments and using Jira
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and a genuine interest in continuous improvement
  • Clear and confident communication skills, able to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent practical experience

If you are a DataStage specialist who enjoys structured data work, collaborative teams and well-run delivery, this one should be right up your street.
