Project Engineer – Utility-Scale Solar PV & BESS
Location: Milan (Hybrid, Flexible)

Leap29 is supporting a high-growth renewable energy startup in Milan, backed by a major global energy group from the UK. We are seeking a Project Engineer to support utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the engineering and technical design of utility-scale Solar PV and BESS projects.
• Prepare, review, and optimise layouts, yield assessments, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate with external engineering partners, EPC contractors, and internal development teams.
• Provide technical input for permitting, grid connection applications, and commercial decision-making.
• Assist with feasibility studies, due diligence, and project configuration optimisation.
• Support Project Managers during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
• Ensure designs comply with local regulations, industry standards, and grid requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Renewables, or a related field.
• 2–5+ years of experience in Solar PV, BESS, or broader renewable energy engineering.
• Strong understanding of PV plant design, grid requirements, and project development processes.
• Experience with design software (e.g., PVsyst, AutoCAD, or similar).
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams in a dynamic, scaling environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a hybrid setup.
• Excited to contribute to a high-growth startup in its early stages.
