We are looking for a dedicated and highly skilled Principal Safety Engineer specializing in Fire Protection to join our client. The role demands a comprehensive understanding of fire protection philosophy and systems, from concept to the completion of the project. The ideal candidate will have expertise in active and passive fire protection, fire and gas detection, and a proactive and pragmatic approach. This role is instrumental in ensuring the safety and protection of our facilities and assets through collaboration and expert contribution in all phases of EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and verify deliverables related to fire protection, ensuring compliance with safety standards, regulations, and project requirements from the initiation to the completion of EPC projects.
- Collaborate with remote offices, utilizing work-sharing concepts to incorporate global best practices and ensure consistent implementation of fire protection systems across all projects.
- Take ownership of the scope, budget, and schedule of fire protection projects, driving them to successful completion within the defined parameters.
- Work independently and report to project engineer/manager or overall Lead Engineer, offering expert guidance and oversight in all aspects of fire protection systems.
- Develop comprehensive fire water demand calculations, hydraulic calculations, monitoring coverage, and requisitions for active fire protection, maintaining a strict focus on safety and efficiency throughout the process.
- Create detailed specifications and layouts for passive fire protection, ensuring thorough coverage and compliance with project-specific requirements.
- Define the fire and gas detection philosophy, develop specifications, requisitions, and layouts, leveraging expertise in the latest technologies and industry best practices.
- Utilize Pipenet/KY Pipe for fire protection design, contributing to the comprehensive and precise planning and execution of fire protection systems.
- Possess a valid driver's license, enabling efficient on-site coordination and support as required.
Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of fire protection philosophy and systems, with a proven track record of successful contributions to EPC projects, from inception to completion.
- Extensive experience in evaluating and validating deliverables, demonstrating the ability to work closely and effectively with remote offices to ensure consistent and high-quality outputs.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and departments, fostering a cohesive and coordinated approach to fire protection within the project framework.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects, working independently, and driving them to successful completion within defined parameters and timelines.
- Proficiency in Pipenet/KY Pipe for fire protection design, showcasing expertise in utilizing advanced tools and technologies to optimize the design and implementation of fire protection systems.
- Possession of a valid driver's license for on-site coordination and support as needed.
Day-to-day
- Collaborate closely with the engineering team to ensure that fire protection systems meet all safety standards, deliverables are accurate, and designs are compliant with project requirements.
- Review and provide detailed feedback on fire protection designs and deliverables, ensuring they align with the project goals and safety standards, from the initial design phase to the final implementation.
- Engage in proactive communication and coordination with remote offices, fostering collaboration and sharing of best practices to enhance the implementation of fire protection projects across locations.
- Shoulder the responsibility for the timely and accurate completion of fire protection projects, with a focus on maintaining high safety standards and adherence to project timelines.
- Perform meticulous fire water demand calculations, hydraulic calculations, and design heat radiation contours, contributing to the comprehensive and precise planning and implementation of fire protection systems.
Fluent in Dutch language is a must.
