Job Description
As a Preservation Engineer, your primary role will be to ensure the preservation of equipment and materials in compliance with project requirements and vendor instructions. You will be responsible for maintaining the integrity and functionality of critical rotating equipment packages, such as compressors and turbines, along with other bulk items like valves, flanges, and pipe spools. Your focus will be on adhering to preservation procedures, conducting inspections, and coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure the effective execution of preservation activities.
Responsibilities
- Ensure General Preservation check sheets (ITRs) are adequate in-line with the type of equipment and material of the project. Create new Preservation ITRs as required and consult with the Commissioning Manager, Site QC Manager, and Commissioning SME.
- Identify specific preservation materials from vendor instructions and raise purchase requests to the project sourcing team. Keep track of purchase orders for special preservation consumables and ensure timely handover to sub-contractors.
- Inspect equipment, modules, or skids prior to shipment from vendor workshops and on receipt at site warehouse laydown area. Record the initial preservation status found on receipt.
- Provide preservation execution procedures to the construction contractor and ensure compliance under the PTW system.
- Monitor the preservation of critical rotating equipment packages and ensure strict adherence to vendor's preservation guidelines to maintain warranty requirements.
- Oversee the preservation of bulk items and ensure that preservation records are maintained by sub-contractors.
- Ensure all preserved equipment is tagged with the specified preservation details and report any defects or material deterioration to the warehouse coordinator and site QC Manager.
- Ensure that construction contractors have necessary preservation consumables and tools available, such as nitrogen, general preservation oil, and corrosion protection sprays.
- Ensure compliance with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for the safe use of special preservation materials, such as VPCI products.
Skills and Qualifications
- 10 - 15yrs exp
- Proficiency in interpreting preservation procedures and specifications
- Strong knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for special preservation materials
- Experience in inspecting and preserving critical rotating equipment
- Effective communication and coordination skills with various stakeholders
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate preservation records
- Knowledge of PTW system and preservation execution procedures
- Familiarity with vendor preservation instructions and preservation consumables
- Ability to identify and address defects or deterioration in preserved material
