Job Description
Senior / Lead Electrical Engineer – Paris, France
Start Date: September 2025
Duration: 6 months (renewable – potential for long-term project)
Rates: Candidates will work of a daily rate
We are seeking an experienced Senior / Lead Electrical Engineer to support a major international project in Paris. This is a senior discipline leadership role, responsible for overseeing electrical engineering activities, managing project deliverables, and ensuring coordination across all disciplines.
This is a freelance daily-rate contract (8 hours/day). Candidates do not need to be based in France but must be available to mobilise quickly.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the Lead Electrical Engineer for the project, reporting to the Project Manager.
- Prepare all required documentation and deliverables in line with project scope.
- Supervise and organize the work of other electrical engineers.
- Plan, track, and report on project progress.
- Organize and lead meetings with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Ensure seamless coordination with other engineering disciplines.
Deliverables & Scope of Work
- Electrical design basis and philosophies (Black start, Control, Earthing, etc.).
- Specifications, datasheets, and requisitions for:
- Generators, transformers, HV & LV switchgears, motors, VSDs, UPS (AC/DC).
- HV & LV power/control cables and electrical control systems.
- Consumer list, power balance, and equipment sizing calculations.
- Electrical system studies (Load Flow, Short Circuit, Motor Starting) using ETAP.
- Single Line Diagrams, protection diagrams, and cable routing/earthing layouts.
- Electrical building/substation designs, cable lists, and I/O lists.
Candidate Profile
- Experience: 10+ years as a Senior/Lead Electrical Engineer on large-scale projects (Oil & Gas or similar industries).
- Language: Fluent English (written & verbal). French language skills are an advantage.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of international standards (IEC, NFC15-100, NFC13-200), ATEX & IECEx compliance.
- Software: Skilled in ETAP Power System Analysis (essential).Type: Freelance consultant (own company preferred).
