HR Officer - Renewable Energy
Location: Johannesburg
Overview:
Leap29 is collaborating with a prominent player in the energy transition, dedicated to driving sustainable solutions across South Africa and globally. They specialise in innovative renewable energy projects with a strong focus on commercial & industrial (C&I) solar, energy efficiency, and distributed generation initiatives.
As part of their continued growth in South Africa, my client is seeking an experienced HR Officer to lead day-to-day HR operations and support their expanding team. This role is pivotal in ensuring smooth HR processes, compliance with South African labour law, and fostering a positive employee experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Onboarding

Manage the end-to-end recruitment cycle, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, offers, and pre-employment checks.

Coordinate onboarding programs and ensure a smooth integration process for new hires.

Champion company culture and values throughout the employee lifecycle.
Training & Development

Partner with managers to identify training needs and monitor completion of mandatory training.

Track training plans, budgets, and outcomes.

Maintain accurate training records for compliance and reporting purposes.
Payroll & Benefits Administration

Liaise with payroll providers to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.

Manage payroll inputs, reconciliations, and approvals in partnership with Finance.

Administer employee benefits, renewals, and resolve queries.

Support with benchmarking and continuous improvement of compensation and benefits schemes.
HR Administration & Employee Relations

Maintain employee records, contracts, and HR databases.

Manage joiner/leaver processes, including induction, payroll setup, exit interviews, and equipment returns.

Support managers with employee relations issues, including disciplinary and grievance processes.

Coordinate performance appraisals, talent reviews, and succession planning inputs.

Keep HR policies, procedures, and guidelines up to date and aligned with local legislation.

Prepare HR reports and ensure compliance with legal and audit requirements.
Additional Support

Assist with internal communications, team-building initiatives, and company events.

Contribute to HR projects and process improvements.

Monitor and control departmental budgets in collaboration with Finance.
Requirements:

Strong knowledge of HR legislation and compliance.
