Global Power Technologies Director

Leap29 are working on a high level mandate, on behalf of a reputable and highly regarded power business, who have Thermal Power (Gas, Waste, Hydrogen, CC) sites on a global scale. The position which we are recruiting for is a Global Power Technologies Director, to oversee these projects and the successful candidate will combined both Construction / Execution with Commercial skillset.

The position will be based from Greece and will involve extensive travelling to international sites across the Middle East, South America and UK & Ireland and mainland Europe.

Leap29 are looking for candidates from Oil & Gas, Conventional Power and EPC Contractor, Mechanical / Diesel Engine backgrounds due to the complex nature of power plant project execution.

Main goal:

Identifies and proposes the department’s strategy, develops the annual budget and has full P/L responsibility in delivering the predefined results. Identifies current and future business opportunities to contribute in the further expansion of the Power department and contribute to the overall business objectives.

 

Main responsibilities:

  • Strategy - Determines strategy of segment and undertakes full P&L accountability encompassing all sub-segments which may exist under him/her.

 

  • Budget - Develops the segment’s annual budget in terms of new projects and project execution, monitors the budget and makes correction to achieve predefined goals and targets.

 

  • Business Development -

       - Collaborates closely with BD Directors, ensures consistent approach, ensures the BD Director is

          fully aware of the Segment's technical capabilities and areas of interest, and resolves any local

          issues that arise in regards to project execution

       - Assesses all leads to determine which should be further explored.

 

  • Project Execution

       - Manage the full array of project execution tasks through respective subsegment Directors to

          ensure:

       - Adherence with all safety requirements and other regulatory compliance needs (in collaboration

          with QA/QC & HSE unit)

        - Timely and on budget execution of project according to predefined quality standards

        - Staffing of all work sites with engineers, construction workers and other required staff (incl.

          subcontractors)

        - Material and equipment availability, through close collaboration with Procurement and Logistics

        - Collaborates with the Engineering Excellence Department to identify cost minimization initiatives

          which could be pursued in more detail and use developed tools/ideas that can drive on site cost

          reduction (e.g. lean construction initiatives at scale) and execution flexibility.

 

  • Reporting - Prepares and presents monthly reports to the General Manager regarding operational, technical, business, safety, P/L and other relevant matters.

 

  • Business Network - Develops and maintains strong business relationships with existing business partners as to contribute further to business development and promote and foster new business opportunities

 

  • People leadership - Fosters a performance driven business environment that develops, retains and motivated people to achieve their full business potential, deliver their targets and contribute to business results.

 

Key interactions:

  • Executive Director to report overall segment progress and get direction for future goals to be pursued and issue resolution
  • BD Directors to ensure consistent approach in BD related to the segment, exploration of all possible opportunities, and local issue resolution
  • Sales & Proposals Director to support Sales & Bidding and Project Execution activities
  • Engineering Excellence to collaborate on project execution
  • Director of QA / QC & HSE for activities related to Project Execution and application of best practices related to works safety
  • Central Functions to cover the relevant Project Execution needs
  • Strategy & M&A General Manager for investment-related projects

 

Qualifications:

  • Education
  • BSc in Engineering
  • Master in any Engineering Discipline
  • MBA is considered a plus

 

Work Experience:

  • At least 20 years in a relevant position that combines business development and project execution.

 

Languages:

Native / Fluent Greek & English
