Job Description

The Engineering Manager will lead the engineering efforts for the development, construction, and operation of solar energy projects. This individual will oversee a team of engineers and work closely with project managers, finance, and operations teams to ensure the successful delivery of solar projects from conception through completion and operation. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of solar energy systems, project management experience, and the ability to lead and inspire a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the engineering planning, design, and development of solar power projects.
  • Manage the technical aspects of project development, including site assessment, system design, energy production forecasts, and technology selection.
  • Coordinate with project managers, finance, procurement, and construction teams to ensure projects are designed and executed within budget, schedule, and quality standards.
  • Oversee the preparation of engineering specifications, drawings, and technical documents for project bidding and construction.
  • Provide technical leadership in negotiations with contractors, suppliers, and consultants.
  • Implement best practices for project engineering, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Lead the technical due diligence for site acquisition, including assessment of potential technical risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to optimize the performance of solar assets, including technology upgrades and troubleshooting.
  • Manage and develop a team of engineers and oversea engineering partners, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure professional growth and project success.
  • Stay abreast of advancements in solar technologies and industry trends to drive continuous improvement in project engineering and execution.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or related field). A Master's degree or higher is preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in engineering, with at least 5 years in the solar industry.
  • Proven track record of managing the engineering aspects of solar projects, from development through construction and operation.
  • Strong understanding of solar system components, design, and energy modeling tools.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with regulatory, permitting, and compliance requirements for solar projects.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, capable of leading cross-functional teams and interfacing with senior management.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
