Leap29 are supporting a leading data centre client near Oslo who are seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join a major hyperscale data centre programme. The successful candidate will play a key role in the testing, validation, and handover of critical mechanical, electrical, and control systems, ensuring facilities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the commissioning and startup of mission-critical data centre infrastructure.
• Review commissioning plans, procedures, and test scripts for mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
• Coordinate commissioning activities with contractors, vendors, consultants, and client teams.
• Witness and document pre-functional, functional, and integrated systems testing (IST).
• Verify performance of critical systems including UPS, generators, switchgear, HVAC, chilled water, fire protection, and BMS/EPMS systems.
• Track commissioning progress, manage punch lists, and support issue resolution.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
• Participate in FATs, SATs, and system acceptance activities.
• Prepare commissioning reports and support final handover to operations teams.
• Assist with troubleshooting and root-cause analysis during testing and startup phases.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services, or a related Engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in commissioning, testing, startup, or operations within mission-critical, industrial, energy, pharmaceutical, or data centre environments.
• Strong understanding of electrical and/or mechanical building systems.
• Experience with commissioning processes, documentation, and quality management systems.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical procedures.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong focus on safety, quality, and attention to detail.

Desirable Experience

• Previous data centre or mission-critical facility experience.
• Experience commissioning UPS systems, generators, switchgear, HVAC, chilled water, BMS, or EPMS systems.
• Familiarity with integrated systems testing (IST) and Level 1–5 commissioning processes.
• Background in oil & gas, power generation, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of commissioning standards and best practices within hyperscale environments.
