Structural Engineer
Job Description
An experienced and solutions-driven Senior Structural Design Engineer with over 8 years of experience in offshore structural engineering. Specialised in the design, integration, and analysis of structural systems for fixed offshore structures, including components used in offshore wind farm foundations and associated installation equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and integration of complex structural components such as pile guiding tools, upending frames, pile grippers, jacking systems, grout seals, and locking mechanisms used in offshore environments.
Translate functional requirements (e.g., fixing, rotating, lifting, locking) into practical structural solutions, ensuring they meet operational, safety, and environmental standards.
Perform structural calculations and FEM analyses to verify system integrity under various loading conditions, and document results in clear, concise engineering reports.
Create and review detailed CAD models and technical drawings using software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary engineering teams and integrate structural systems into larger offshore projects.
Communicate with suppliers and clients to support component selection, manage technical queries, and provide engineering support throughout the design and fabrication phases.
Contribute to project planning and coordination, ensuring designs are delivered on time, within scope, and compliant with all relevant codes and standards.
Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge sharing within the design and engineering team.
Key Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or related discipline.
8+ years of relevant experience in offshore structural design.
6+ years in a senior or lead engineering role.
Proficient in FEM modeling and structural analysis of offshore components.
Strong knowledge of offshore installation systems and mechanical-structural integration.
High proficiency in CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Fluent in English (Dutch proficiency is a plus).
Eligible to work in the Netherlands.
