Electrical Primary Engineer
Job Description
As a Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Engineer, you will support energy network expansion and reinforcement projects in the Netherlands and internationally. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you’ll deliver technical solutions for substations, cables, and overhead line connections, from concept through execution. Your role combines engineering design with project coordination, and you’ll act as a key liaison between clients, CAD engineers, and external partners to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective outcomes.
You’ll be part of the Energy Transition unit, which helps clients accelerate sustainable infrastructure projects across energy, water, and raw material systems. The team brings together creativity, technical excellence, and global experience to drive meaningful change.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop electrical engineering deliverables and oversee project execution
Liaise with clients and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
Design safe and cost-effective T&D solutions for substations and grid connections
Conduct feasibility studies, simulations, and prepare technical documentation
Collaborate with internal teams and external specialists on design and construction
Contribute to project planning, budgets, and schedules
Support knowledge sharing and, in senior roles, mentor junior engineers
Requirements:
BSc/MSc/PhD in Electrical or Power Engineering, or equivalent experience
3+ years’ experience in T&D engineering (5+ for Lead Engineer level)
Knowledge of HV/MV substations, equipment specs, and relevant standards (e.g. DNV, IEC)
Experience with design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Elcad, Primtech, PSCAD (preferred)
Strong communication skills and ability to work in diverse, international teams
Fluent in English; Dutch is an advantage
Willingness to travel and work offshore occasionally
