Automation Engineer (Architectural Coatings) – Amsterdam, Netherlands

Contract Duration: Initial 12-month contract working via Leap29, after the 12-month contract, you will go into a potential permanent position

Language Requirement: Dutch Speaking

In a world where technology is becoming increasingly vital, the role of an Automation Engineer is essential in driving efficiency, safety, and sustainability within manufacturing environments. Based in the Netherlands, this position focuses on maintaining and improving automation systems across multiple production sites, ensuring smooth operations and continuous development. The role involves documenting existing systems, supporting ongoing projects, and collaborating with various departments to enhance factory processes.

Daily Operations on Location:

  • Perform routine system checks and inspections to ensure efficient operation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues or malfunctions.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to address automation-related concerns.
  • Monitor system performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Liaise with departments such as Quality and Process Technology.

Maintenance and Improvement of Automation Systems:

  • Assist in maintaining and enhancing current automation systems.
  • Conduct system audits to identify risks and optimization opportunities.
  • Work with interdisciplinary teams to implement necessary upgrades or adjustments.
  • Stay up to date with the latest automation technologies to propose innovative solutions.

Documentation:

  • Maintain detailed records of the current system architecture, components, and functionalities.
  • Create technical documentation, including system diagrams, flowcharts, and operating procedures.
  • Keep records of system changes, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all documentation is current and accessible for future reference.

Project Support:

  • Provide technical expertise and support for ongoing automation projects.
  • Collaborate with project teams to define automation requirements and specifications.
  • Assist in the design, development, and implementation of automation solutions.
  • Conduct testing and validation of new automation systems or enhancements.

Your Profile:

For this role, you bring:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Automation, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and industrial networks.
  • Experience or willingness to learn SQL Server databases, Visual Studio, and programming in Visual Basic (VB.Net) and C.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as ladder logic, structured text, or function block diagram.
  • Experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of factory systems.
  • Creativity, curiosity, and a strong eagerness to learn.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • A proactive and entrepreneurial mindset, with the enthusiasm to challenge existing processes and develop new ways of working.
  • Proficiency in Dutch and English.
