Role Summary
We are seeking a talented and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client’s team on a consultant basis. This role involves contributing to the design, development, and optimization of cutting-edge equipment and systems used in offshore Oil & Gas operations. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver projects within scope, budget, and timeline.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop mechanical designs, specifications, and drawings for topside equipment, well intervention systems, and plugging/abandonment tools.
- Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and feasibility studies to ensure reliability and compliance with industry standards.
- Oversee the selection of materials and components, ensuring alignment with project specifications and operational requirements.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems into overall project solutions.
- Support the fabrication, assembly, and testing of equipment, providing technical guidance and troubleshooting as required.
- Conduct risk assessments, HSE evaluations, and ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
- Prepare and review technical documentation, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide support for installation and commissioning activities, including occasional offshore site visits if needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering within the Oil & Gas industry, preferably in an EPCI (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation) environment.
- Proven track record in the design and delivery of equipment for topsides, well intervention, and/or plugging and abandonment.
- Strong knowledge of industry standards, such as API, ASME, and NORSOK.
- Proficiency in engineering software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with fluency in English.
- Ability to work independently and adapt quickly to project demands.
