Job Description – Senior Project Manager Business Development

 

My client are a fully integrated, Italian IPP operating along the entire value chain, from generation to storage. They are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join their Development team, reporting directly to the Head of the Business Unit. This role is pivotal to managing the authorisation and development processes for Renewable Energy projects.

 

As part of the team, you will manage projects from site selection to commissioning, ensuring development activities meet regulatory and environmental requirements while optimising project performance.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee preliminary project design, coordinating with internal teams, external consultants, and design firms. Activities include site pre-selection, environmental constraint analysis, assessment of wind and/or solar potential, and layout definition/optimization.
  • Manage the full authorization process, including preparing and reviewing documentation for EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment), PAS (Simplified Enabling Procedure), and A.U. (Single Authorization).
  • Develop and maintain relationships with relevant authorities, regulatory bodies, and local communities to ensure smooth project progression.
  • Lead the acquisition process for land and area agreements necessary for the installation of RES plants and related infrastructure.
  • Manage grid connection processes for RES plants, from the initial request to commissioning, whether connecting to the electricity distribution grid or the national transmission grid.
  • Oversee GSE applications and related administrative procedures to secure incentive tariffs.

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ proven experience in RES project development with hands-on expertise in the responsibilities outlined above.
  • Solid knowledge of the Italian renewables market and its regulatory framework.
  • Familiarity with safety standards, design requirements, and technical regulations for RES plants.
  • Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Civil, Environmental, Mechanical preferred but not mandatory).
  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken).
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD) and common productivity tools (text, spreadsheets, presentations).
