Grid Connection Manager - USA
Leap29 is proud to partner with a leading Independent Power Producer (IPP) with a strong presence across Europe, the United States, and Latin America. This organization specializes in developing, constructing, financing, managing, and operating high-quality renewable energy projects across multiple countries.
We are currently seeking a Grid Connection Manager to join their team in Eastern USA. This role involves leading the interconnection of renewable energy projects in coordination with business development and construction teams, ensuring compliance with technical requirements, utility standards, and U.S. regulations across PJM, Florida, MISO and ERCOT regions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with electricity distributors and transmission system operators to facilitate grid connections for generation facilities.
• Negotiate with stakeholders at connection nodes to coordinate necessary work and agreements for timely execution of shared evacuation infrastructure.
• Present technical solutions and evaluate alternative connection options.
• Oversee the planning and implementation of evacuation infrastructure to adapt existing distribution/transport networks as defined at access and connection points.
• Procure and supervise basic/detailed engineering and compliance with relevant regulations for evacuation infrastructure.
• Manage construction and commissioning of shared evacuation infrastructure.
• Monitor budgets related to evacuation infrastructure.
• Identify, develop, and track project critical paths and risks.
• Conduct technical due diligence for projects.
• Negotiate and oversee EPC contracts for electrical infrastructure.
• Ensure adherence to health and safety, quality, and service standards.
• Ensure compliance with applicable grid codes for each generation facility.
• Deliver regular project progress and status reports to management and stakeholders.
• Prepare and maintain project connection schedules.
Your Profile:
• Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Management Engineering, or a related field.
• Expertise in energy systems, power transmission, project portfolio management, contract management, substations, renewable energy, and smart grids.
• Strong knowledge of regulations, grid codes, and electrical standards.
• Extensive experience in the USA market and at least 4 years working with ISO/RTO electrical infrastructure EPC companies.
• Proven track record in team management.
• Advanced computer skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, and financial systems.
