Job Description
Senior Grid Engineer & Grid Manager
Join our development team to play a pivotal role in managing the connection of our energy projects to the grid. Support the Head of Connections and contribute significantly to energy project development by leveraging your analytical, communication, and project management skills.
Key Responsibilities
• Identify and assess grid capacity suitable for electricity storage systems, demand, and generation projects within target regions across the UK.
• Collaborate with grid operators, regulators, and stakeholders to ensure adherence to grid connection requirements and regulations.
• Work closely with internal teams, including engineering, project management, and finance, to achieve timely and cost-effective grid connections.
• Assist in negotiating grid connection agreements and resolving related challenges.
• Provide updates to the Head of Connections and contribute to deliverables related to grid and electrical engineering within the project development team.
• Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments to explore grid connection options.
• Monitor, track, and report on grid connection progress and performance metrics.
• Prepare and manage grid connection applications, ensuring compliance throughout the approval process.
• Stay informed about relevant regulations and advancements in grid connection technologies and energy project development.
• Represent the company at industry conferences and events, fostering relationships with DNOs, IDNOs, TNOs, ICPs, and key technology partners.
Skills and Experience Required
• Experience in energy project development, with a focus on grid connections and pre-construction processes.
• Ability to assess grid capacity, create technical documentation, and submit applications for successful grid connections.
• A proactive approach to managing individual projects and achieving measurable success.
• Strong relationship-building skills, particularly with DNOs, TNOs, ICPs, EPCs, and other external advisors.
• Knowledge of distribution and transmission grid systems as they pertain to energy projects.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Familiarity with grid connection regulations and energy markets is advantageous.
Qualifications
• Degree in engineering (electrical engineering preferred but not essential).
• Full UK driving licence.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD for creating technical diagrams and Microsoft Office Suite for project management tasks.
