Job Description

Job Title: Oracle DBA - Migration to AWS Support

Location: Remote
Length: 6 months

 

Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to support the migration of an Oracle Database running on AWS VMware to an Oracle DB on EC2. In this critical role, you will address existing database technical debt, potentially upgrade the Oracle database from v19 to a newer version, and support discussions around a potential migration to AWS RDS.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the lift and shift of an Oracle Database from AWS VMware to EC2.
  • Remediate existing database tech debt to ensure optimal performance post-migration.
  • Assess, plan, and execute a database upgrade to a newer version (Oracle 19c or later).
  • Provide expert guidance and support for a potential migration to AWS RDS.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Oracle databases on cloud infrastructure.
  • Performance tuning and optimization of databases for high availability and scalability.
  • Manage database security, ensuring data integrity and compliance with best practices.
  • Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans.

 

Key Requirements:

  • 3+ years of Oracle DBA experience with cloud migrations, specifically on AWS.
  • Proven expertise in migrating Oracle Databases to AWS EC2 and/or AWS RDS.
  • Strong understanding of AWS RDS services and cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience in database upgrades, particularly from Oracle 19c or similar versions.
  • Hands-on experience with database performance tuning, backups, security management, and disaster recovery.
  • Proficiency in database setup, installation, and configuration within AWS environments.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Oracle Database certification (e.g., OCP).
  • AWS Certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Database - Specialty).
  • Experience with AWS VMware and cloud database architecture.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
