Senior Planner (DCO – Solar & BESS)

 

Leap29 are working with a client who are a highly reputable, renewable energy global EPC and project developer, who are looking to fill a role for a Senior Planner. This role will serve to provide support in obtaining Planning Approval for the projects (also managing Appeals Planning Strategy and Implementation whenever needed).

 

This includes supporting the processing of planning applications; engaging and managing consultants and third parties, documentation review, PR, stakeholders liaison, etc. in accordance with company’s policies, procedures and objectives.

 

Main Responsibilities:

 

  • Coordinate the preparation, revision, and submission of planning applications for TCPA and DCO Solar PV and BESS projects, ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Prepare planning-related reports and recommendations in line with internal processes and procedures.
  • Manage the internal budgeting forecast for planning activities for each project.
  • Oversee all planning-related sub-consultants.
  • Conduct site inspections concerning planning applications.
  • Advise the company and consultants on the content of applications before and after submission.
  • Coordinate and prepare evidence for written representation appeals, and represent the company at Informal Hearings and Public Inquiries when necessary.
  • Inform the Line Manager if any of the above duties and responsibilities cannot be performed.
  • Perform any other duties as required to support the business, including maintaining business continuity and handling emergencies.

 

Experience and Qualifications

 

  • A planning degree or equivalent qualification with a minimum of 7 years of experience in infrastructure or renewable energy project planning in the UK.
  • Proven experience in negotiating Section 106 agreements.
  • Extensive experience in a variety of Development Management (DM) tasks within either Local Planning Authorities (LPA) or the private sector, including handling complex applications, appeals, and providing pre-application advice.
  • Familiarity with Development Consent Orders (DCOs).
  • Experience with Section 36 (S36) applications.
