Job Description
Leap29 have partnered with a top European IPP exploring Solar PV, agrivoltaics, green hydrogen and BESS initiatives across Europe, the Americas, and Africa.
Our client is seeking a Grid Connection Manager to oversee all activities related to the grid connection of Solar PV plants in Italy. This role encompasses the acquisition, development, design, construction, and electricity sale processes.
The position is available as soon as possible and to be based in Milan.
Responsibilities:
- Screen acquisition opportunities and perform due diligence, evaluating STMG, Capex, and permitting feasibility. Assess connection possibilities and risks for greenfield projects.
- Develop and assess grid connection strategies.
- Lead communications with System Operators and developers, participate in technical meetings, and negotiate connection agreements.
- Optimize and secure grid routes, handle land agreements, and prepare design studies.
- Create cost-effective, optimized grid solutions with input from engineers.
- Manage communications and agreements with System Operators and grid authorities.
- Ensure adherence to agreements, act as Key Account Manager, and participate in pre-energization processes as needed.
- Support the construction project manager on grid-related questions.
- Stay updated on legal and technical frameworks and participate in discussions on grid connection with stakeholders.
External Qualifications and Experience
- MSc in Electrical Engineering preferred
- Minimum 3 years in a similar role

- Italian: Native or fluent (written and spoken)
- English: Fluent (written and spoken)

- Legislation related to grid connection, operation, and development
- Best practices in grid design
- Components for high and medium voltage grid design (cost, usage, limitations)
- System Operator business and planning processes
- Tariff structures
- Concepts for electricity generation from PV power
- Static and dynamic electromagnetic effects

- Concession application processes
- Managing consultants
- Engineering aspects of commercially attractive PV plants
- Grid permitting processes
- SCADA connections
- Characteristics of generators, cables, transformers, and switchgear
- Standard contracts for BoP in relevant countries (e.g., ABT, YSÄ)
- Calculation of active losses
