Job Description

Safety Supervisor – 18 – 24 months – Malaysia

Location:                                                      Malaysia

Start Date:                                                   September 2024

Company:                                                    Multinational conglomerate that produces fire, HVAC, and security equipment for buildings. As of mid-2019, it employed 105,000 people in around 2,000.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  2. : Conduct safety training sessions for project personnel, including new hires, subcontractors, and site visitors, to ensure understanding and compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
  3. Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards, assess risks, and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations. Implement corrective actions as needed to address safety deficiencies.
  4. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive measures to prevent recurrence.
  5. Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations, codes, and standards, including OSHA, EPA, and NFPA regulations, and liaise with regulatory agencies as necessary.
  6. Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents, inspections, and training activities, and prepare comprehensive reports for management and regulatory agencies as required.
  7. Communicate safety policies, procedures, and initiatives to project teams, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to promote awareness and accountability for safety performance.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field (preferred).
  2. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification preferred.
  3. Proven experience as a Safety Supervisor or similar role, preferably in industrial construction projects.
  4. Thorough knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices, including OSHA, EPA, and NFPA regulations.
  5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate safety concepts and requirements to diverse audiences.
  6. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a proactive and hands-on approach to safety management.
  7. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
