Job Description
Safety Supervisor – 18 – 24 months – Malaysia
Location: Malaysia
Start Date: September 2024
Company: Multinational conglomerate that produces fire, HVAC, and security equipment for buildings. As of mid-2019, it employed 105,000 people in around 2,000.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- : Conduct safety training sessions for project personnel, including new hires, subcontractors, and site visitors, to ensure understanding and compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards, assess risks, and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations. Implement corrective actions as needed to address safety deficiencies.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive measures to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations, codes, and standards, including OSHA, EPA, and NFPA regulations, and liaise with regulatory agencies as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents, inspections, and training activities, and prepare comprehensive reports for management and regulatory agencies as required.
- Communicate safety policies, procedures, and initiatives to project teams, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to promote awareness and accountability for safety performance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field (preferred).
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification preferred.
- Proven experience as a Safety Supervisor or similar role, preferably in industrial construction projects.
- Thorough knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices, including OSHA, EPA, and NFPA regulations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate safety concepts and requirements to diverse audiences.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a proactive and hands-on approach to safety management.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
