Manager Performance Engineering (Wind, Solar & BESS)

Leap29 have an opportunity available as Manager of Performance Engineering , where you'll collaborate with a skilled group spanning asset management, finance & accounting, procurement, and construction. Reporting to the Executive Vice President of Engineering and Performance Analytics, you'll oversee the optimization of our wind, solar, and BESS projects.

Your role will involve:

  • Monitoring the performance of operational assets, focusing on maximizing energy production and revenues.
  • Identifying and resolving underperformance issues in collaboration with various team members.
  • Engaging with OEMs to address equipment underperformance.
  • Generating performance reports at project and portfolio levels.
  • Conducting loss calculations due to various factors.
  • Drafting and negotiating availability guarantees and performance ratios for project contracts.
  • Supporting ongoing project operations for the Asset Management team.
  • Participating in SCADA system evaluation and development.
  • Providing feedback on design improvements based on experience.
  • Assisting in major equipment warranty claims and recovery efforts.
  • Supporting the finance team on technical matters.
  • Staying updated on emerging issues in project equipment and technologies.


  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • 4 to 8 years of experience in utility-scale wind, solar, and BESS projects.
  • Experience in performance engineering-related roles within IPPs, asset owner/operators, or Independent Engineering firms.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite, PVSyst, and monitoring platforms.
  • Knowledge of utility-scale wind, solar, and BESS technologies.
  • Experience with new technology evaluation is advantageous.
  • Civil engineering/construction experience is beneficial.
  • Experience with BESS modeling and wind project energy estimation is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% for projects and industry events.
