Job Description

Role: Safety, Health & Environmental Engineer

We are recruiting engineering and project professionals for various roles for a Project Management Consultant (PMC) project. All positions are 2-year contracts.

 

Your responsibilities:  

  • Reporting to the Safety, Health and Environmental Manager with key responsibility for developing, implementing, and managing safety programs and protocols to ensure a hazard-free work environment.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety standards and identify potential hazards, including categorization of hazards based on their potential impact on project objectives.
  • Conduct safety, health, and environmental risk assessments throughout the project lifecycle and develop strategies to mitigate identified risks.
  • Assess occupational health risks and implement measures to safeguard workers and monitor workplace conditions to ensure workers adhere to health guidelines and regulations.
  • Evaluate the potential environmental impacts of project activities and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Implement and manage environmental protection programs, including waste management, pollution prevention, and resource conservation.
  • Investigate safety, health, environmental incidents to determine causes, recommend corrective actions, and to prevent future occurrences.
  • Maintain records of all incidents, including near-misses, and report findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain thorough documentation related to safety, health and environment management, including safety, health, environment audit reports and action plans. Ensure that all relevant documentation is easily accessible and archived, as necessary.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering, procurement, and construction, to integrate safety, health and environment management into all project aspects.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans for potential incidents and organize emergency drills and exercises to ensure readiness.
  • Organize and conduct training sessions for Project Management Team, contractors, and other stakeholders on safety, health, environment protocols, best practices, and standards.
  • Regularly report on safety, health, environment metrics, including hazard identification and categorization, to the Project Manager and other stakeholders.
  • Promote and enforce safety, health, environment protocols to develop a culture of safety, health, environment awareness within the project team.

 

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: 

  • Minimum: Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management or other relevant fields. Industry specific certification related to quality or risk management. Industry related trade certificate combined with relevant professional experience.
  • Desirable: Specialist industry Health, Safety, environment training. ISO9001 Lead Auditor.
  • Knowledge of safety standards, best practices, and procedures relevant to EPC and EPCM projects in the oil and gas or related industry.
  • Prior project experience in offshore or marine environments, highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with the technical aspects of EPC and EPCM, including FEED projects, including familiarity with design principles, construction methods, materials, and equipment relevant to the construction of oil and gas facilities and infrastructure.
  • Ability to perform detailed safety and health risk assessments, and to determine necessary control measures.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and the ability to evaluate the project's potential environmental impacts.
  • Ability to analyze accidents or incidents to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures.
  • Familiarity with software tools designed for risk assessment, incident recording, or environmental impact analysis.
  • Ability to use software and platforms for generating regular safety and environmental compliance reports.
  • Capability to conduct or oversee safety and environment audits and inspections to ensure compliance with established project standards and regulations.
  • Ability to scrutinize project documentation to ensure compliance with project and industry Safety, Health, Environment criteria.
  • Ability to make informed decisions, sometimes under pressure, considering safety, health, environment requirements and risks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and address issues that arise during the project lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with any industry-specific regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Thorough understanding of safety protocols, especially in high-risk environments like offshore platforms and marine environments.
  • Capability to develop and implement emergency response plans for various scenarios.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Strong skills in building relationships and effectively collaborating with various project stakeholders.

Details about the role: 

Location:

  • 1st week in Copenhagen Denmark at Client offices (4 days)
  • 2nd week at FEED Contractor 1 Office - Norway (3 to 4 days)
  • 3rd week at FEED Contractor 2 Office - UK (3 to 4 days)

Contract type: Permanent 2yr fixed term

Experience level: Minimum 5+ years
