Electrical, Instrumentation, QC Inspector- Protos, UK 

 

The Electrical, Instrumentation, QC Inspector plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of electrical and instrumentation systems in various industrial projects. This role involves inspecting, testing, and evaluating electrical and instrumentation installations to ensure they meet established standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Maintain standards of safety and comply with Project’s Health, Safety and Environment Management System requirements.
  • Reports to Site Quality manager, liaise with construction team for quality issues.
  • Responsible for the execution (and improvement) of the Project Quality Plan in compliance with the requirements of the project, through the implementation of project’s specifications, procedures, inspection, and test plans (ITPs) and method statements (MSs).
  • Issues relevant Request for Inspection (RFI) to the Client and maintains a relevant register file for the progress of inspections.
  • Verifies that inspections are performed to the extent defined within the ITPs, by the appropriate staff, with the calibrated equipment, as required. - Checks all required inspection points and reports as specified within the ITPs and monitors records within Schedules.
  • Issues the relevant Quality Records and, when necessary, informs the Quality Control Supervisor for non-conformities.
  • Inspect materials/ equipment during receipt, verify compliance with the requirements.
  • Monitor preservation of equipment during storage/handling and after installation
  • Checks cable laying and cable identification.
  • Verify cables routing and correct termination acc. dwgs
  • Performs visual inspections, dimensional test, checks rating and material for connection.
  • Inspect electrical equipment during erection based on the ITPs, such as T/Fs, GCBs, SSTs, UATs, SWGRs, STGs, EDGs, SPBs, Bus Ducts / Breakers, Main distribution Panels, Control panels etc.
  • Performs all relevant loop checks, continuity, insulation resistance.
  • Updates as built drawings.
  • Verify calibration of equipment/instruments
  • Verify installation of instruments/tubing and leak tests
  • Verify Fiber optic cable installation.
  • Orderly collect, check and manage documents certifying tests, controls and inspections carried out witnessing the tests, controls and inspections carried out. Preparation of final documentation and turn over packages.
  • Performs / participates to the final walk downs with the Customer, Subcontractor(s), Construction Engineers etc. and verifies the recording of observations (punch items) that may have occurred after.
  • the walk down of the inspectors in the relevant list. - Monitors the progress of closing the punch items by the responsible personnel.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

 

  • Experience of working on major electrical works projects within the Power Plant or Solar industry industry.
  • Formal engineering training and technical qualification.
  • Previous experience 5 to 7 years on electrical inspection activities in Power Plants or O&G.
  • Previous experience in completion systems, (final walkdown, punch items, turn over packages)
  • Previous exposure to high voltage electrical installation including switchgear and electric drives.
  • Hazardous Area installation and equipment ATEX inspection experience.
  • Checks Instrument calibrations including ultrasonic flow meter, level transmitters, temperature transmitters,
  • pressure transmitters etc.
  • Working knowledge of construction standards, codes of practice, regulations / legislation in general and in
  • particular of BS/IEC/ISO/API/ATEX/EEMUA codes and standards relating to electrical and instrumentation work.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations.
  • Familiar with MS Office Package (excel, outlook etc)
  • University Degree education level preferable.
  • Excellent command / highly proficient in spoken and written English
