Job Description

Head of Development

Leap29 are working closely with a top-tier, industry leading renewable energy company, with a strong presence internationally. They are currently searching for a Head of Business Development to join their team in South Africa.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in a similar role, particularly involved in developing large-scale renewable projects across South Africa, with knowledge of managing bids & negotiating contracts.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise project implementation,
  • Coordinate an internal team (project directors and managers, technicians, legal, HSE, societal, permits and local aspects economists, tax specialists),
  • Coordinate external consultants,
  • Manage the project indicators (timeline, development cost, budget, and project economics),
  • Manage and prepare the project,
  • Monitor and assess risks,
  • Supervise or review the local development,  
  • Ensure the appropriate discussions with equity partners teams,
  • Integrate HSE dimensions,
  • Lead finance teams,
  • Build the team,
  • Propose new routes to market and develop new business and land opportunities.

 

Requirements:

  • Engineering qualification,
  • 15+ years professional experience in similar positions within renewable energies
  • Knowledge of the electricity market and South African players
  • Experience across technical and financial negotiations
  • Strong interpersonal skills, coordination of multi-cultural, cross-functional teams
  • Ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and multiple demands.
